Website Contact Form Not Working

A form may appear to submit while messages fail because of configuration, validation, spam controls, or delivery.

A broken contact form can silently cost inquiries. Send a controlled test and check whether the submission was stored, whether the site sent an email, and whether the message arrived or was filtered.

What to check first

  • Send a controlled test with known details
  • Check stored submissions and error logs
  • Review sender addresses, SMTP, and domain authentication

What to do next

The fix may be in the form configuration, email authentication, a plugin conflict, or the hosting mail service. Retest on desktop and mobile, and provide a visible confirmation so visitors know their message was received.

Trace the submission from screen to inbox

A success message does not prove delivery. Submit a test with a known address, check whether the site stored an entry, review its sending logs, and search the recipient mailbox and spam folder. The failure may be in form settings, mail authentication, a plugin, or a hosting mail limit.

Recover missed business inquiries

If submissions were stored, review the period when email failed and follow up where appropriate. Add a direct contact method while the form is being repaired. After the fix, test on a phone and desktop and confirm that both the visitor's confirmation and the business notification work.

Prevent a silent repeat

Assign someone to make a recurring test submission and verify arrival, especially after site, DNS, or email changes. A form that looks intact can quietly stop delivering leads.

Should I rebuild the form?

Only after finding the failed step. Configuration or delivery can often be fixed without replacing the page.
