Long Walks Are Helpful

Walking Is Good For You

Walking is a very low effort (though highly beneficial) physical-activity compared to jogging and running, you can lose a tremendous amount of fat/weight from walking. I myself love walking and tend to walk 25,000 to 50,000 steps on a good day, you don’t even need that many steps, most people need 5,000 steps a day. I’ve seen statistics say 10,000 steps but that’s unrealistic for some people, especially people who are not that active overall.

If you ever have a weight-problem that you are dealing with; start walking, you can drink a Pepsi while walking, it doesn’t matter as long as you start walking and increasing your daily average steps. This will help your body start to lose fat, regardless if you have a terrible diet in the beginning. I learned it’s better to just do anything rather than nothing, you can fix your weak points later on, just do it.

People Who Walk Live Longer

My grandfather lived to be 97 years old and he was an avid walker. One of his key pieces of advice was to stay active but never overexert the heart (even swimming can give you a heart-attack). He also recommended not to smoke, drink alcohol, and/or gamble. But grandpa really pointed to diet (simple foods) and walking as the key to a long life.

Doctors and scientists also point out that many people who do decide to walk have a better quality of life. I’ve seen and heard many stories of cancer patients deciding to walk more and change their diet after their cancer is cured. The point is that walking might take hours at some points but it adds time to your life, it’s an investment that pays off long-term!

Walking Is A Fun Activity

Even if you are by yourself, you can enjoy the scenery and the voyage that you are taking by walking. I personally love to go through the nature, hiking trails, all sorts of walks, beaches are a personal favorite, and I’m always looking for new places! When you are walking, you can go places that cars can not go, you can explore more, people tend to leave you alone if you’re not calling attention to yourself.

If you have friends who are fun, bring them with you, show them all the places you have discovered. Hopefully they can keep up with your pace, maybe you’ll be balanced by having to speak to them at the same-time as their unofficial tour-guide.

Add More To Your Walks

You can always do more than walking – if you are physically capable, you should be doing some bodyweight exercises like pushups and body-squats. You can also do crunches, and if you are leaving up to it, use resistance bands for a light workout and stretch. Go slow, go at your own pace, don’t try to do too much, micro-actions add up in time.

God Bless All The Walkers

I don’t mean “The Walking Dead” but all the people out there who are walking to make themselves better, to be a better version of themselves. That is commendable and I’m proud of anyone who is putting the effort into making themselves better, good job always!
