Long Island Is Beautiful
Lucky To Live On Long Island
I grew up on Long Island, I lived in a town named Syosset and was a student-member of the Syosset School District, I graduated from Syosset High School in 2010, I spent one year on Long Island before I moved 3000 miles across to California for college.
When I came back to Long Island a few years later, I realized that Long Island is a very special place. The people I grew up with, the education, the places, the beaches, everything was just special. I appreciate Long Island more now than ever before.
Long Islanders Are Funny People
If you really know Long Islanders, a lot of them are very care-free and know how to have a good time but they also are responsible and get shit done! Meaning, they know how to have business and pleasure, that’s the Long Island way, make money and have fun!
You might start your day with a bagel, have pizza for lunch, and end the day with a steak. Nobody knows, that’s your choice, you might even have a BEC (Bacon, Egg, and Cheese) instead, I don’t know, your choice! Either way it’s going to taste great, you know how it is!
We’ve all had that friend that takes a xanax and doesn’t remember what happened the next day, this is some common Long Island stuff, but that makes you appreciate all the good times and the memories. Who hasn’t been shit-faced drunk at Little Vincents in Huntington?
The Beach Towns Are The Best
I’m not a Hamptons guy, maybe in the future? But I do love Montauk, something about it, I don’t know what it is, I don’t even need a camera – I could just stare out to the ocean from Montauk forever. Also, I have to give a special shoutout to Long Beach, NY; I didn’t know Long Beach existed until I was around 21 years old! Woah, how did I not know this beauty existed my whole life?
Instead I went to Oyster Bay my whole life and sometimes would go to Jones Beach (which felt like a desert and journey). I remember walking in Oyster Bay and wishing there was sand instead of rocks but whatever, glad I discovered Long Beach eventually in my life.
Many Famous Origin Stories Exist
We’ve had a first lady who was born on Gardiners Island in Suffolk County, we have Native American stories that stretch back to the 1500-1600s (16th and 17th century), and Albert Einstein would visit Long Island many times, even Tesla had projects here!
I couldn’t even list the amount of origin stories and amazing facts about Long Island, one of my favorite facts about Long Island is that it once was considered Connecticut (for a brief period). I also like the fact that many comedians come from the island, you definitely can get a lot of material from living on Long Island for even a short amount of time. A lot of characters here, we welcome them (haha).
When I attended Syosset High School, the teachers would bring-up Natalie Portman and Judd Apatow as prime examples.
Long Island Should Be A State!
I think many Long Islanders would agree that we are very different from the state of New York though we are a part of it. Long Island has a very different culture than upstate New York and NYC, it’s just different. People on Long Island are practically begging to be their own state, Long Island contributes so much to the overall state of New York, it’s like the Taiwan of China, hard to give up because of money.
